Arrive at Kilimanjaro airport meet and greet followed by transfer to Arusha for dinner and overnight, Kilimanjaro Airport

Staying at Arusha Planet Lodge means sleeping well far from the noise of the downtown area. The rooms are nicely sized with work desks and vivid safari colors offset by muted wood furnishings. Most of the balconies look out on the trees of the hotel grounds. You'll also find a good restaurant and bar onsite.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park

Wherever you go in Tarangire National Park, you’ll come across the park’s famous and larger-than-life baobab trees and elephants. These are the twin elements that give this park so much personality. There is, of course, so much more. We don’t just mean the huge populations of wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys and zebras. Or the rugged landscape of rocky hills and rivers, swamps and savannah plains. You also have an excellent chance of seeing lions here – Tarangire is a real lion stronghold – and keep an eye out for leopards and cheetahs as well.

Activity Day 2

You'll be going on a guided game drive to look for Tarangire's lions, elephants, cheetahs and more. It's one of the best places to go looking for animals in northern Tanzania.

You're right alongside Tarangire National Park when you stay at Tarangire Simba Lodge. You'll sleep in wood-floored safari tents where the canvas walls let in the night calls of animals as well as cooling breezes. If you can tear yourself away from these lovely tents, head for the swimming pool, restaurant or campfire.

Day 3

Lake Manyara National Park

Your next safari stop is Lake Manyara, a fantastic and relatively compact park. There is so much to look forward to here. To start with, there's the dramatic scenery of cliffs, forest and lake all in a relatively small area. You're also in for a treat when it comes to wildlife. Lake Manyara is famous for its elephants that roam the forests, its gregarious troops of olive baboons, and its lions which, unusually, climb trees. It's a unique combination that offers something a little different to the other parks in Tanzania's north.

Come with us on a guided game drive through Lake Manyara National Park. The park is famous for its elephants and tree-climbing lions, and we hope you'll see both.

Day 6

Northern Serengeti National Park

You really do have so much to look forward to on your visit to the Northern Serengeti. The varied landscape of rolling hills, grasslands, light woodlands and the Mara River should be the scene for some fantastic animal encounters. Watch especially for elephants and big cats. And the safari trails up in the park's north are generally much quieter than they are elsewhere in the park.

Go looking for wildlife on a guided game drive in the beautiful Northern Serengeti. You never know what you might see, but that's all part of the excitement.

Baobab Migration Luxury Camp

Baobab Migration Luxury Camp will be your base in the Northern Serengeti and it's a fine place to stay. With no other camps or lodges close by, it really feels like you're out in your own corner of the African wilderness. All sorts of wildlife pass through the camp, never more so than when the great migration is in the area. The excellent safari tents and dining or lounge area are good vantage points for Serengeti life: listen for lions as you fall asleep under canvas at night.

Day 7

Central Serengeti National Park

There's nowhere in Tanzania where you have a better chance of seeing big cats than in the Central Serengeti. You'll also see lots of other animals as you explore the savannah grasslands and silhouetted acacia trees with us. This is the Serengeti's heartland and it is the most popular area of the park, but with very good reason.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery and all the incredible wildlife possibilities on a guided game drive through the Central Serengeti.

Baobab Serengeti Camp - Central

You get the best of many worlds when you stay at Baobab Serengeti Camp. You'll be staying in the popular Seronera area of the central Serengeti, and yet the camp's location, by the banks of the (often-dry) Orangi River, is delightfully quiet. Elegant safari tents look out over an area where wildlife regularly passes by. There's a dining and a bar-lounge tent, and the stars are simply amazing at night.

Day 8

Ngorongoro Crater

Your day in and around Ngorongoro Crater could just be one of the most memorable of your whole safari. You’ll explore the crater rim and then drive down onto the crater floor, where the critically endangered black rhinos are the stars of an astonishing wildlife show. You’ll almost certainly see large-tusked elephants, at least one of the Ngorongoro’s four lion prides, and wandering clans of spotted hyenas. It also just happens to be one of Africa’s most beautiful corners, a hidden world where you’ll be surrounded by steep, deep-green crater walls, a salt lake, forests and hippo-filled waterways.

Around halfway between Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro, close to the busy town of Karatu but down a quiet side street, Marera Valley Lodge is an excellent place to stay. Lake Eyasi

Lake Eyasi allows you to escape the safari crowds. Here you can enjoy the views of the lake, Kidero Mountains and the Eyasi escarpment. Lake Eyasi is also a special place for the traditional Hadzabe people who live in the area.
