Shira 2 Camp is the third camping area along the Shira and Lemosho route as you climb Mt Kilimanjaro. It's a simple site with no facilities – you just have to find enough space among the rocky boulders to pitch your tent. The views from here are outstanding, and the altitude of 3890m/12,762ft makes it an important step in acclimatizing to the higher altitudes.

Along a number of routes that climb Mt Kilimanjaro, including the Machame Route, Barranco Camp (3983m) is typical of the desert-like landscapes that occur here above the tree line. When you stay at Barafu Camp, at an altitude of 4681m on Mt Kilimanjaro, you're surrounded by a landscape where nothing grows and the views extend out across the mountain's high and treeless valleys. 'Barafu' means 'ice' in Swahili and it's always cold up here, as well as beautiful. Enjoy talking with the other climbers who've reached this milestone.

Uhuru Peak

Stand on Africa's highest point (5895m) when you make it all the way to Uhuru Peak. The summit of Mt Kilimanjaro looks out from the Kibo crater rim, and the views go deep down into Kenya and Tanzania. Admire the glaciers and enjoy that feeling of achievement.

You know you're on the way down when you stay at Mweka Camp, a descent-only camp along four different routes down from the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park will allow you to tick off so many unique safari highlights, including many that you just won’t find elsewhere. Unlike the elephants you’ll see in other parks, Lake Manyara’s inhabit dense forest – there’s nothing quite like your experience of an elephant suddenly emerging from behind the nearest tree. Also, you’re just as likely to see lions here draped along a branch high in a tree as down on the ground. And baboons. Lots of baboons. The views you’ll see here, too, persist in your memory long after you’ve returned home, thanks to the combination of lake, forest and sheer cliffs, all within just a few kilometres.

Join us for a guided game drive through the forests in Lake Manyara, where sightings of the park's elephants and tree-climbing lions are the main prize.

Serengeti National Park

Unesco World Heritage–listed Serengeti National Park will almost certainly be one of the highlights of your safari, and it's the kind of place that very quickly becomes a favorite. That's partly because of the wildlife: this is one of the best places anywhere to see lions, leopards and cheetahs. Although every big cat sighting is special, they're only a part of the story here: there's a good chance you'll also see elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, buffaloes and spotted hyenas and much more. Many travelers' love affair with the Serengeti is also because of its landscapes: expect vast savannah grasslands, acacia trees and pretty hill country.

You'll get to know Serengeti National Park in the best possible way on a guided game drive. Led by an expert guide, you'll drive out across the park's famous savannahs to look for the incredible wildlife (big cats, elephants and more) that calls the park home.

Ngorongoro Crater

Your day in and around Ngorongoro Crater could just be one of the most memorable of your whole safari. You’ll explore the crater rim and then drive down onto the crater floor, where the critically endangered black rhinos are the stars of an astonishing wildlife show. You’ll almost certainly see large-tusked elephants, at least one of the Ngorongoro’s four lion prides, and wandering clans of spotted hyenas. It also just happens to be one of Africa’s most beautiful corners, a hidden world where you’ll be surrounded by steep, deep-green crater walls, a salt lake, forests and hippo-filled waterways.
